ECC Echoes Employees’ Compensation Programs to ComVal’s ‘Home of the Achievers’

ECC 11 presented to the faculty members of Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School the various EC programs available for teachers sustaining work-related contingencies during the Parangal sa mga Guro 2018 at Sanitary Function Hall, Nabunturan, ComVal on June 1, 2018.

Over 200 teaching employees of the Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School were present during the discussion majority of whom are unaware of their entitlements under the Employees’ Compensation.

A number of faculty members raised frequently asked questions relative to the programs, specifically on the filing process and its corresponding process cycle time, instances where an injury can be compensable and how can an illness be proven work-connected.

Coverage of all workers in both private and public sectors, including uniformed personnel, seafarers and Kasambahays, was explained to the participants.

Dr. Editha T. Jao, EdD, NNCHS’ Principal, stressed the importance of the discussion on EC Programs by saying that it affords her faculty who have suffered from work-connected illness and injuries of the chance to avail for their EC entitlements. She pointed out that only GSIS programs had reached their awareness as it was the first time for EC Programs orientation to be conducted in their school.

Mr. Vicente D. Luna, CSC Provincial Director, expressed desire to require all public schools in the entire ComVal Province to undergo orientation on the programs of Employees’ Compensation Commission taking into consideration the susceptibility of teachers to work-connected illness.

The ECC speaker ended the discussion by emphasizing that the ECP is a government program designed to provide workers with compensation benefits, medical or other related benefits in the event of work-connected contingencies.
