Dennis C. Rodriguez, a former laborer of DM Consunji, Inc., shifted his profession to being a welder after granted with welding equipment by Employees’ Compensation Commission under its Kagabay Program on June 4, 2018.

Mr. Rodriguez, 26 years old, suffered from limb amputation when an accident occurred to him while performing his tasks in the workplace. The accident rendered him partially disabled that led him to avail the Kagabay Programs of ECC.

“I am much thankful of the assistance that ECC has extended me because they gave an opportunity that would enable me to continue earning notwithstanding my impending disability.” Mr. Rodriguez remarked after a set of welding equipment was finally awarded him.

He received the equipment worth Php 20, 000.00 after he underwent Entrepreneurial Development Training which sought to provide him sufficient skills on the effective management of his welding enterprise.

Stella Z. Banawis, ECC Executive Director, emphasized that the Commission will continue to intensify its commitment to bring all victims of work-related contingencies back to their economic productivity through the provision of livelihood starter kits. “The Commission remains true to its endeavors especially in restoring the worker’s capacity to earn despite his disability.” she noted.

Under its Kagabay Program, the Employees’ Compensation Commission has been providing for restorative devices i.e. prosthesis, physical and occupational therapy, skill trainings and livelihood assistance to workers falling victims of contingencies at work.
