18 Injured Workers Granted EC Cash Assistance

Awardees mirthfully displayed the checks representing the 10k EC Cash Assistance.

Davao del Sur - “Working with incomplete limbs is obviously arduous but this incompleteness finds its fill through the aid of ECC.“ said Mr. Kristian Malud, an assistant blancher operator, during the ceremonial distribution of Php 10,000 cash assistance on 23 January 2020 at Franklin Baker, Inc., Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Mr. Malud is one of 18 recipients of the newly adopted program of ECC called Cash Assistance for those workers who have been figured in an accident in the course of employment. His co-recipients were Modesto Sudaria, Mechor Eulogio, Michael Nogollos, Aldren Lascuna, Ronnie Flores, Warlita Lasib, Butche Pontongan, Jaymar Matos, Elmer Dansiagan, Rey Flores, Jolly Igbalic, Elinita Ramos, Reynaldo Repalam, Jovannie Morabe, Modesto Konishi, Henry Gapula and Norma Abong. All are workers of Franklin Baker, Inc.

The recipients received the EC Cash Assistance in addition to the EC sickness or EC disability benefits which they already have availed. In view of the holistic approach of the EC Program to the occupationally-disabled workers, they will further be subjected to the grant of physical and occupational rehabilitation through physical therapy and livelihood grant, respectively.

Stella Zipagan-Banawis, ECC Executive Director, acknowledged the contribution of all workers to the National Economy and emphasized that whatever contingencies transpired to them in carrying out such contribution must be accorded full protection under the programs of Employees’ Compensation Commission. “The Commission is committed to providing every worker not only the benefits due them after the contingency but most especially giving highest premium to safety to avoid the occurrence of such contingency.” she added.

The grant of Cash Assistance is adopted by the EC Programs starting 2018 purposely to enable the injured workers address the economic needs subsequent to becoming victims of contingencies in the course of employment. (ECC-REUXI)
