Davao de Oro - The Department of Labor and Employment - Davao de Oro Field Office (DOLE-DOrFO) has settled the labor dispute between the plantation workers and the management of SUMIFRU (Philippines) Corporation.

In a Conciliation Mediation through SENA procedures, each of the ninety-five (95) workers received a sum of P60,000.00 last June 9, 2020 in Compostela, Davao de Oro.

During the first hearing (March 10, 2020), the requesting parties, through its representative Vicente Barrios claimed for separation pay and manifested their intention to undergo Conciliation Mediation in connection with their previous employment.

After a series of conferences, both parties met on June 9, 2020 and agreed to settle their dispute before the DOLE-Davao de Oro Field Office Provincial Head, Neil Allan R. Baban, Senior LEO Isidrick M. Paqueo, LEO III Lym R. Ongoy, SUMIFRU Vendor Relations Manager Rommel B. Dilig, and SUMIFRU Corporate Lawyer Atty. Bernice Joana L. Piñol, along with Compostela Vice Mayor Levi Ebdao and Bravo Company Commander Lieutenant Arthur Gandan.

The SENA resulted to a total settlement of P5,520,000.00 in terms of separation pay in lieu of the reinstatement from the decision of the Supreme Court with SC Case No. G.R. No. 202091. (DOLE Davao de Oro)
