
Tagum City, Davao del Norte โ The Department of Labor and Employment recently awarded livelihood assistance worth โฑ1.5M to parents of child laborers.
As part of the International Labor Organizationโs (ILO) goal of ending all forms of child labor by 2025, 75 parents of child laborers profiled last 2019 in Tagum City received livelihood assistance through DOLE Davao del Norte Field Office.
They underwent Child Labor Advocacy Campaign Orientation, skills training through TESDA, Business Preparation Training and Orientation facilitated by Public Education and Employment Services Office (PEESO) Tagum, and drafted their project/business proposals respectively.
DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, โwe do our utmost efforts to take part in the elimination of child labor in our region by also involving our partners and stakeholders in order to provide the best services to our beneficiaries.โ
The beneficiaries then received โฑ20,000.00 each intended for their starter kits just right after signing the affidavit of undertakings stating that they will be under the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tagum.
In his message, DOLE Davao Director II Atty. Jason P. Balais congratulated the LGU of Tagum through its City PEESO for its astounding efforts in facilitating the awarding ceremony.
