Davao City – Child laborers recently received school supplies and hygiene kits from the Department of Labor and Employment Davao Region.

In coordination with Sirawan, Toril Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), 27 child laborers from the said barangay were profiled by DOLE Davao Region last year.

DOLE Davao City Supervising Labor and Employment Officer Maria Cecilia A. Gravino said, “last year, nakahatag pud ta ug Emergency Employment sa 5 ka ginikanan sa mga bata nga apil sa atong na profile as part of DOLE Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP).”

She also extended her gratitude to Davao Light and Power Company and the Income Credit Cooperative for being the benefactors of this event.

DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, “for us to achieve our goal of eradicating the worst forms of child labor, we must be consistent.

This is why DOLE and our partners never cease to do our part and offer what we can to improve the lives of the child laborers and their families as well.”

In his speech, Davao Light President and COO Engr. Roger Velasco thanked RD Domingo and DOLE and expressed that DLPC will continue to support DOLE’s CLPEP.
