Malita, Davao Occidental โ€“ Parents of Manobo child laborers in Brgy. Buhangin recently received livelihood starter kits from Department of Labor and Employment Davao region.

Through the DOLE Davao Child Labor Program (CLP), the child laborers and their families were identified last 2019 by DOLE Davao Occidental Field Office. The indigent parents of child laborers are all members of Asosasyon ng mga Nagkaisang Mamamayan ng Udalo Bagumbayan (ANAMAMBA).

As part of the DOLE Davao CLP intervention, the association was granted with 10 banana ketchup making starter kits.The beneficiaries were also provided with skills training by DTI Trainer Marc Noel Gablines.

On the same day, DOLE Davao Occidental Acting Provincial Head Arce Sinajon also awarded ANAMAMBAโ€™s associationโ€™s certificate of registration.

DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, โ€œwe will continue to assist and monitor the parents of child laborers until they become able. Equipping and empowering them will create great impact to their lives and contribute to the eradication of the worst forms of child labor in the region.โ€

ANAMAMBA President Roel Quisol expressed his gratitude and said, โ€œdaghan kaayong salamat kaninyong tanan nga nalimbigit niining programa sa Child Labor, tungod kay nahatagan kami ug paglaum nga magpadayon sa pagpanginabuhi luyo sa crisis sa panahon tungod sa pandemiya nga atong gisagubang karon.โ€
