DOLE Davao del Sur Chief Engr. Reynaldo Dennis V. Badilles awarded the check to Municipal Councilor Antonio L. Albino on behalf of the 188 Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries worked previously as ambulant vendors, fishermen, home-based workers, laborers, farmers, mechanics, and drivers but lost their jobs when the pandemic hit the country.
They rendered their services from 28 December 2020 up to 14 January 2021 and worked under their respective barangays through barangay cleaning, disinfection, and coastal cleanup.
After the TUPAD assistance, the beneficiaries are now brainstorming for plausible livelihood and are eyeing to avail of DOLEโs livelihood assistance in the near future.
DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, โwe have been extending our assistance to our workers in the region since the pandemic started.โ
She also added that the Department is doing its best to reach provinces to help more displaced workers and, hopefully, help them reach a long term goal for sustainability.
