The Uraya High Value Crops Farmers Association, of which 90% of the members are Atah Manobo, were declared as Regional and National level winner of best DOLE Assisted Livelihood Association during the DOLE Kabuhayan Annual Awards.
DOLE Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said that it is truly an honor for DOLE Davao Region to have assisted the said association not only because of their current victory but for its great contribution to Davao Region.
“They are truly an inspiration for farmers, associations, other indigenous groups and marginalized sectors who are aspiring for development,” she added.
DOLE Director II Atty. Jason P. Balais said, “DOLE Livelihood program aims not just purely giving the grant but mainly the true concept of ‘Sustainable Livelihood’ and the real impact of ‘food on the table to all beneficiaries’.”
Uraya High Value Crops Farmer Association President Rufino “Panguna” Andalay said, “wala gayud kami nagtuo nga kami naa sa layong daput og mga lumad mahatagan og pagtagad… dako gyud ang among pasalamat sa tabang sa DOLE nga karon naa gyud mi panginabuhian og labi na ang pag skwela sa among mga anak nga dali lang gyud kayo ug naa gyud mi income labi na karong pait kayo tungod sa pandemya.”
