Some 12 young agriculture and biosystems engineering graduates are set to begin their internship after the ceremonial signing of Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE XI) and the Department of Agriculture (DA) XI on April 4, 2022 for the implementation of the Government Internship Program for Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering Youth (GIP for ABE Youth).
DOLE XI was represented by its Regional Director Atty. Randolf C. Pensoy while DA XI was represented by its Regional Technical Director for Operations Dr. Marila Corpuz. The MOA formalized the deployment of said ABE graduates to DA XI field offices and projects in Davao Region for a period of six (6) months. They will be paid according to the existing prevailing minimum wage in the region.

In a message, RD Pensoy praised the ABE graduates for choosing this field of study as well as their passion to transform the agriculture and fisheries sector of the Philippines. “The government is lucky to have you onboard. We are looking at the new breed of brilliant Filipino ABEs who will contribute and support the growth of our country’s agriculture sector.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Corpuz assured the interns that DA XI will provide them with various opportunities that will certainly help develop their skill sets to advance their career in the field of agriculture and biosystems engineering.
Also present during the signing of MOA were DOLE XI Regional Employment Focal Person Marlito D. Ayala, Regional GIP Focal Person Niel Jan L. Genovia, DA XI Regional Agricultural Engineering Division Engineer III Engr. Ana Lee I. Manaopanao and Project Assistant I Engr. Gerald Hadji Ulangkaya. Said program aims to augment the delivery of agricultural and biosystems engineering services in the implementation of agri-fisheries mechanization, small scale irrigation and farm-to-market roads, post-harvest facilities, and other agri-fisheries infrastructure projects of the DA.### MFKM/NJLG
