150 individual residents of Barangay Matina in Davao City who have been affected by the June 29, 2011 flash flood were recipients of the Emergency Employment Program  of DOLE ‘s Tulong Panghanapbuhay   sa ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD).

In a report submitted to the Secretary Baldoz, Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao said that DOLE XI has committed to shoulder 60%  of the wages of the 150 individuals who will work for 30 days to clean up debris, de-clog canals, and render assistance on other related infrastructure projects of the Local Government Unit of Davao City in the calamity stricken area.  The Davao City LGU, on the other hand, will shoulder the 40% of the wages.

On September 21, 2011, Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz personally  turned over the Check amounting to P772,200.00 to the Local Government of Davao City through The CSSDO Head, Ms. Malou Bermudo and District 3 Councilor, Dr. Bernard Al-Ag as  financial assistance to the affected workers.

The DOLE –TUPAD Program is aimed at providing emergency wage employment as an immediate source of income for disadvantaged workers and workers affected by natural calamities and displaced from work.

Each worker shall receive P8,580.00 for 30 days work and they shall be supervised by the Local Government of Davao City.
