A total of 229 JobStarters from Davao City and Tagum City are set to finish the full cycle of the second roll-out of the JobStart Philippines program in Davao Region.

109 JobStarters from Tagum City will graduate on March 1 while 120 JobStarters from Davao City will graduate on April.

Jobstart Philippines is a Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) implemented project in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and the government of Canada. It is being implemented through the local Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of the target areas.

The program is targeted to aid at risk youth aging 18-24 years old who are not in employment, education and training.

Qualified “JobStarters” will undergo ten days of life skills training, up to three months of JobStart-funded technical training and another three months of work experience with a “matched” employer/establishment. The interns in return will be receiving at least 75% of the minimum wage in the relevant city/municipality.

Pilot areas for the first and second phase of implementation of the program here in the Region are Davao City and Tagum City.

Moreover, for this year JobStart Program is also targeting to cover more areas in Davao Region this year namely, Panabo City, Digos City, and Municipality of Sta. Cruz.
