5 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) were awarded as Region XI winners of the Productivity Olympics by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Region XI (RTWPB-XI) on July 19, 2013.

In a Resolution issued by the RTWPB-XI, Reliance Transcriptions, Inc. and Davao Adventist Hospital were declared winners in the service sector category.  In the industry category, declared winners were Jhaymarts Industries, Inc., Norie’s Footwear and Supply and Woodworks Kiln Dried Products.

The Regional Screening Committee composed of the members of the RTWPB-XI and an external member represented by People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP)-Davao Chapter president Jacqueline Fe R. Luy evaluated and validated the entries based on the prescribed criteria of the competition.

RTWPB XI Chairman Joffrey M. Suyao said that the winners are the official entries of Region XI to the National Productivity Olympics Awards, which will be held in October 2013 at the Century Hotel, Manila in time for the celebration of the National Productivity Month.

The Productivity Olympics is a national competition to intensify national awareness and commitment to quality and productivity and to showcase best productivity improvement programs and practices of micro, small and medium enterprises.  The biennial event is organized by the National Wages and Productivity Commission, in coordination with all its RTWPBs.  A cash award and incentives await the national winners.

“Region XI has consistently produced national winners since the competition was launched in 2008.  Lao Integrated Farms (Bansalan, Davao del Sur), AMS Employees Fresh Fruit Producers Cooperative or AMSEFFPCO (Kapalong, Davao del Norte) and Tesoro’s Printing Press (Davao City) bested other participants in the previous runs of the national competition. We are hopeful that our regional winners this year will be recognized for their excellence and best productivity improvement practices,” Suyao added.
