Mr. Vergelio Dayon of Panabo City recently received an orthosis from the Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) at Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City.
A shoulder-elbow-wrist orthosis was granted to Mr. Dayon as part of the ECC’s Rehabilitation Services for workers with work-related disabilities. The said device was worth Php 20, 000 and freely given to the said beneficiary.
Mr. Dayon, a former security guard, met a vehicular accident severely injuring his left shoulder while on his way home from his place of assignment two years ago. This accident consequently forced him to cease performing as a guard as he was no longer physically fit for such profession.
Prior to this grant, Mr. Dayon had availed of the free Occupational and Physical therapy rendered to him by the ECC’s partner hospital, Southern Philippines Medical Center.
Stella Zipagan-Banawis, ECC Executive Director, remarked that the grant of orthosis to differently abled worker like Mr. Dayon is consistent with the ECC’s endeavor in bringing him back to his full productivity by correcting his physical deformity.
“The device granted to me aided me to perform profitable profession like managing the business package that ECC has also given me.” Dayon stated during the awarding.
