Davao City. – Atty. Jason P. Balais, OIC-Asst. Regional Director of DOLE XI and Atty. Elmer Ben V. Pasion, Labor Arbiter of National Labor Relations Commission were the guests during the taping of the 334th episode of Kalamboan Dala Tanan hosted by Ver Bermudez on April 25, 2019 at the SkyCable Studio along Cabaguio Ave., Davao City.
The episode was divided into three segments, with the first focused on knowing DOLE and NLRC specifically on each one’s roles in the society. Host Bermudez also asked for the roles of POEA, OWWA and other attached agencies to the Department of Labor and Employment. He also pointed out that the incidence of strike is lesser these days compared to the 90’s which ARD Balais readily added that it is probably because of the strengthened effort of DOLE in forming tripartite councils in different industries nationwide.
The second part was focused on the celebration of Labor Day. Host Bermudez asked the guests on what are the activities lined up for the public on that day. ARD Balais informed Mr. Bermudez that DOLE XI and DTI XI together with their partners will conduct the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Job and Business Fair on May 1-2, 2019 at the GMall of Davao. He added that the public will be offered not only vacant jobs for local and overseas but also trainings on livelihood and entrepreneurship.
Host Bermudez started the third segment with questions on labor procedures such as where to go if employees would like to file complaints for unjust wages and benefits, where do “kasambahays” file their complaints against their employers, where to verify the authenticity of job openings abroad, if an OFW is in distress abroad where to ask for help, and other issues related to employer-employee relationship.
Host Bermudez ended the discussion by announcing and encouraging viewers to watch the segments of this episode of Kalamboan Dala Tanan on April 29, 2019 onward at PTV Davao from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. and at SkyCable Channel 53, Monday to Friday at 8:30 p.m./By Eduardo P.
