Cecilia Guerra-Vega, GSIS Branch Manager, and Atty. Jason P. Balais, the Assistant Regional Director of DOLE 11 on January 29, 2016 at GSIS Davao Branch.

Ms. Bo-oc and her child received an aggregate amount of PHP 55, 297.65 consisting of the EC burial benefit and monthly pension in the amount of Php 1, 554.30 for the period from March 10, 2014 to January 31, 2016.
Ms. Bo-oc explains that the EC assistance would mean having a small business that consequently sustains the studies of her child “especially now that I already left my job after the death of my husband”. She and her child are survivors of the PO3 Manolo Bo-oc whose last assignment was in Matan-ao PNP Station, Davao del Sur.
PO3 Bo-oc is one of the two PNP personnel who died after the alleged members of NPA had strafed the station leaving two casualties and injuring others.
The bereaved spouse came to know their entitlements under EC Programs available to them when staff of ECC 11 conducted its Quick Response Program during the wake of her husband. The spouse did not expect to receive EC benefits available at GSIS “especially that uniformed men including my husband were no longer members of GSIS in the late 1990s”.
“It was Franscheline Orvette Domingo-Loayon, the Administrative Officer II of ECC 11, who informed me during their conduct of Quick Response Program that uniformed men remained entitled to the programs of Employees’ Compensation Commission administered by the GSIS” Ms. Bo-oc recalled.
Ms. Bo-oc, also expressed her appreciation to the GSIS Branch Manager Ma. Cecilia Guerra-Vega, who assured the ECC personnel in Region 11 of prompt facilitation of claims under Employees’ Compensation Programs. (DOLEXI-ECC/Albert A. Bantan)
