Beginning September 1, minimum wage earners in Region XI will receive an increase in their basic pay per day amounting to P21.00 under Wage Order No. RBXI-16.
The new wage hike will bring up the minimum wage levels in the region from P234-P265 to P255-P286 inclusive of the P15.00 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) under Wage Order No. RBXI-16.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board for Region XI (RTWPB-XI) granted the wage increase after a series of public hearings in the cities of Davao, Digos, Mati and Tagum.
Wage Order No. RBXI-16 was published last August 17,2010 at SunStar Davao, a local newspaper circulated in the provinces of Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental.
Unlike the Wage Orders issued in the National Capital Region, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao and CARAGA this year, the new Wage Order for Region XI does not provide exemption to distressed establishments.
