Tagum City – Last Jan 18, 2017 at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan, Tagum City, a one-day orientation for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) was spearheaded by the Davao del Norte Public Employment Service Office (DavNor PESO) Managers in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment Davao del Norte Field Office (DOLE DNFO).

The orientation, participated by the DavNor PESO Managers, PESO and DOLE SPES focals with DOLE Regional SPES Focal Marlito D. Ayala as speaker, focused on the SPES Online system and the salient features of the new SPES Law (RA 9547) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations to enhance implementation of the program.

The Program aims to help poor but deserving students pursue their education by providing income or augment their income through encouraging their employment during summer and/or Christmas vacations. SPES is an opportunity to enhance the employability of the youth, who will eventually be the next generation of the country’s workforce.

RA 9547 is also known as “An Act Strengthening and Expanding the Coverage of the Special Program for Employment of Students, Amending for the Purpose Provisions of R.A. no. 7323, Otherwise Known as the Special Program for Employment of Students.”
