
Davao City – Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 11 awarded ₱ 900,000.00 as livelihood assistance to parents of child laborers yesterday.
Under DOLE 11’s Project Alalay para sa Ginikanan Alang sa Kalambuan sa Kabatan-onan (AGAKKA), the check was turned over to Leon Garcia, Agdao Brgy. Captain Lita C. Empis for 45 parents of 87 child laborers.
DOLE Davao City Child Labor Program Focal Lariele P. Arce said, “project AGAKKA is part of the DOLE Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) that aims to assist parents/guardians of child laborers through livelihood or emergency employment.”
DOLE 11 Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, “the program will help the parents of child laborers become financially able and stable.”
“With this, their children can shift their focus from providing for the family to their education,” she added.
She also expressed that the department will continue its efforts to eradicate worst forms of child labor in the region.
Brgy. Capt. Empis thanked DOLE 11 for supporting the parents of child laborers despite the pandemic.
“Tabangan ta mo para mapalambo ang inyong livelihood. Mutabang mi og monitor arun magpadayon og paglambo ang livelihood na gihatag kanila,” she added.
