DIGOS CITY – A total of 313 beneficiaries in Digos City, Davao del Sur successfully completed the 15-day community based training under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment. The graduates received P6,000.00 each during the graduation ceremony in Davao del Sur Coliseum, Digos City last March 31, 2021.
Forty-nine beneficiaries graduated from basic welding training, 121 from massage and nail art, 96 from hair cutting and coloring, and 47 from basic electrical installation conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region XI.
DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo extended her warmest congratulations to the TUPAD beneficiaries and commended their resiliency amidst the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
TUPAD is an emergency employment program of DOLE for the displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers that supports projects for social, economic, and agro-forestry communities.
Moreover, on the same event, DOLE Davao awarded P47,000,000.00 to the Province of Davao del Sur for the province-wide implementation of the Government Internship Program (GIP) that will cover 1,808 beneficiaries for a span of three months in the second quarter of 2021.
GIP is a program that aims to provide opportunities and engage young workers in government agencies/entities projects and programs at the national and local level.
