DOLE Davao City Field Office Chief Erlinda Mamitag & Davao Light and Power Company Corporate Communications Department Head Fermin Edillon turned over school supplies and hygiene kits to Lubogan Brgy. Captain Levi Fortuna for 23 child laborers.

Davao City – Department of Labor and Employment – Davao recently provided school supplies as part of Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP).

23 children from Brgy. Lubogan, Toril District received school supplies and hygiene kits from DOLE Davao in partnership with Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) and in coordination with Lubogan Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC).

Beneficiaries were selected through DOLE Davao’s database that determines areas with high child labor cases.

Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, “this activity is under the Project Angel Tree, a component of the DOLE-CLPEP that provides various assistance to child laborers and their families.”

“In coordination with the barangay, we assist beneficiaries in determining the assistance that fits them. Usually, the parents avail of our livelihood programs.” she said.

“Aside from the department, companies can also assume as sponsors and benefactors and may offer food, clothing, educational assistance or school supplies, and even work or training opportunities.” she added.

During the program, DOLE Davao City Chief Erlinda G. Mamitag ensured DOLE’s commitment in supporting Brgy. Lubogan in its combat to end worst forms of child labor.

DLPC Corporate Communications Department Head Fermin Edillon offered child laborers’ parents with free skills training of their choice.

Lubogan Barangay Captain Levi Fortuna expressed his gratitude for DOLE and DLPC’s support and assured that Brgy. Lubogan will do its part in protecting the rights of their children.
