Tagum City – Twenty six (26) DOLE labor inspectors from the different regional offices had undergone a specialized training on the working conditions in the agricultural sector at the Hijo Resorts Davao in Tagum City on August 6 – 9, 2019.
The training aims to capacitate a core group of regional labor inspectors in the conduct of labor inspection in agriculture, who can lead such inspections in their respective regions and roll out similar trainings in the future, and to develop a set of proposals for inter-agency cooperation, which can then be proposed by DOLE to relevant government agencies.
Conducted by the Bureau of Working Conditions (DOLE BWC), the resource speakers of the activity were Director Khalid Hassan of the ILO Country Office for the Philippines; Ms. Cerilyn Pastolero, ILO Project Manager, and Dr. Linda Matisane, ILO Consultant.
DOLE XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante in his message said, “This opportunity is a big leap for DOLE inspectors to know more on the problems besetting the agriculture sector, and moreover will empower you to handle squarely on concerns as regards labor issues in this industry.” Director Agravante ended his message by thanking the staff of the Bureau of Working Conditions headed by Director Teresita Cucueco that facilitated the activity, the participants and the resource speakers.
