Davao Occidental – The Davao Occidental Field Office (DOCFO) of the Department of Labor and Employment XI (DOLE) conducted a workshop on the 2021 Child Labor Prevention and Elimination Program (CLPEP) in Malita, Davao Occidental on April 29, 2021.
Six enumerators were given the key information and knowledge on the rights of the children, poverty-child labor cycle, situation of child labor over the years, and the sustainable development goals of CLPEP.
DOLE XI-DOCFO also highlighted the familiarization of the profiling tool and procedure such as data privacy protocols, ethical considerations, and other data gathering strategies.
Ms. Regina Grace B. Jayagan, Child Labor Program Provincial Focal, shared words to inspire the enumerators. “This work will be challenging yet fulfilling once we clearly capture the essence of the program.”
“Child Labor has always been a pressing problem in our country, especially now that we are facing an economic crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to develop innovations and strengthen our efforts to prevent and totally eliminate this issue. Big or small efforts, we are making a difference,” Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said.
CLPEP aims to remove children from child labor particularly in its worst forms. The program contributes to the Philippine Program Against Child Labor of the national government interventions for eliminating or preventing child labor by promoting child-focused actions, rights-based approach, and results-based management among others.
