To further strengthen the knowledge and implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the workplace, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI has recently conducted an OSH summit for Family Welfare Committees and members of the Business Process Outsourcing industry in the region.
The event was held at Ritz Hotel in Davao on April 6, 2018 with the theme “Strengthening the program implementation of Occupational Safety and Health and Well-Being: The safest choice is most often the healthiest and the safest choice.”
Opening program of the activity was graced by DOLE XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante who expressed his support for the cause and emphasized the importance of Occupational Safety and Heatlh in the workplace citing the recent incident of the mall fire last December 2017.
“I want this to be seriously implemented and inculcated to all BPOs and this information should be spread to all their workers and employees,” Director Agravante said.
Talks during the summit include DOLE XI orientations on Family Welfare Program, Occupational Safety and Health Standards, Child Labor Advocacy. Guest speakers were also invited namely OSH Physician Dr. Luningning P. Cubero who discussed on Occupational Safety and Health Program and Department Order 184-17 or Safety and Health Measures from prolonged sitting at work; OSH Nurse Cyra Ann G. Moradilla who discussed on Policy Guidelines Governing OSH of workers in the Call Center Industry; and representative from Therma South Inc. for the Emergency Preparedness Standards Prevention during earthquake and fire.
Members of the Federation of Family Welfare Stakeholders XI were also inducted by Director Agravante during the event.
