The Department of Labor and Employment XI – Davao City Field Office turns over livelihood materials to two fisherfolk associations in Agdao, Davao City on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

The Samahang Mananagat sa Leon Garcia Association (SAMALGA) and Barangay Lapu-Lapu Association, Inc. (BALAFAI) in Agdao, both beneficiaries of DOLE XI – Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) were part of the 2016 budget for livelihood.

SAMALGA and BALAFAI both acquired materials such as full-length bamboo trunks for fencing, fishnets, lengthy rope and mononylon amounting to 181,160.00 pesos and 148,945.00 pesos respectively.

The two, 125 pieces of crablets and 213 kilos of trash fishes which are still part of the total amount of the livelihood assistance will be turned over on a separate day if the cages are already available.

Livelihood Focal and Senior Labor and Employment Officer Cristita Coro told the beneficiaries about the government’s effort in providing assistance to uplift the marginalized sectors’ socio-economic status and how significant its outcome will be to the government’s continuous support.

She reminded both beneficiary groups that every member must give importance with the assistance served to them because it will definitely support their family’s needs.

In return, the fisher folks extended gratitude with the livelihood assistance and vowed to give full commitment in their projects.
