DAVAO CITY – With the upcoming celebration of Labor Day 2018, the Department of Labor and Employment together with the Department of Trade and Industry and other partners has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the conduct of the Trabaho, Negosyo Kabuhayan (TNK) Fair on May 1 to 2 at the Gaisano Mall of Davao.
Other partners present during the MOA signing include Gaisano Mall of Davao, Interface Computer College and media partners People’s Television Network, ABS-CBN Davao and GMA Davao Inc. The signing was held on April 25, 2018 at Ritz Hotel.
The MOA signing was then followed by a short press conference led by DOLE XI OIC-Assistant Regional Director Jason P. Balais and DTI XI Regional Director Belenda Q. Ambi.
“It will feature the usual job fair and for the second consecutive year we will be joined by the Department of Trade and Industry who will conduct trainings, seminars for those interested in business and entrepreneurial undertakings.” Balais said during the briefing.
There will be about 12, 532 job vacancies on the fair. About 6,216 vacancies are local jobs while 6, 316 are overseas jobs.
“There will be 87 employers with 60 local and 27 foreign employers who will be joining the fair.” Balais said.
DTI XI Regional Director Ambi shared that they will be conducting trainings on micro financing, online selling, fresh flower arrangement on May 1, and trainings on abaca novelty item making and business opportunities on bakery on May 2.
For local employment, the top 10 jobs are mason (finishing/rough), 1,205; call centers, 605; carpenters, 598; tile setters, 402; rebar men/ steel men, 144; sales clerks/associates, 128; service crews, 113; marketing professionals, 100; foremen, 70; and management trainees, 54.
While the top 10 for overseas are nurses, 2,671; cleaners, 702; sales associates, 200; service crews, 200; caregivers, 200; waiters/waitresses, 190; assistant herd managers for New Zealand, 174; delivery drivers, 150; mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, 139; and welders, 125.
Moreover, pre-registration will begin tomorrow, April 26 until April 30 at the third floor of Gaisano Mall of Davao.
