The Department of Labor and Employment headed by the Regional Director Joffrey M. Suyao along with DOLE attached agencies (National Conciliation and Mediation Board ,  Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, National Labor Relations Commission, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration,  Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Technical Educational Skills Authority, and Professional Regulation Commission) conducted  a tree planting activity at Barangay Pangi, Matina, Davao City on September 30, 2011. The tree planting site was badly hit by  a flash flood on June 29, 2011.

CENRO XI representative, Engr. Girlie Japitana, and Brgy Captain Benjamin T. Badon expressed gratitude for the move of DOLE and its attached agencies in addressing this problem of deforestation.  In an interview by ABS-CBN, Rd Suyao disclosed that the activity will help address the nation’s goal of restoring nature and in support to the national effort of planting more trees for a greener and safer environment.

Also present during the activity were delegates from the Philippine National Police and other National Government Agencies who are implementing the National Greening Program of President Aquino. A total of 52 participants planted 1,000 seedlings in the area.

This accomplishment is a sequel to the previously conducted orientation by CENRO XI on waste segregation in the DOLE XI Offices.
