The Department of Labor and Employment, Regional Office No.XI launched the Child Labor Knowledge Sharing System (CLKSS ) last March 27, 2012 at the Grand Regal Hotel. The launching was participated in by 80 program implementers, advocates and  stakeholders from different government and non-government agencies that have programs on children.

In his  message of support , DOLE XI Regional Director stressed the importance of having a strong and sutained networking strategies and intensified advocacy efforts to help curb the child labor problem in the region. He said that we have a primordial role to play in the promotion and protection of the best interest and welfare of our children. He also emphasized the need to have resolve and vigilance , strengthen protection strategies, revisit our policies and mandates to be able to deliver effectively our programs  and services for our children and women who belong to the marginalized sector of our society.

Ms. Jodelen Mitra, Programme Officer of the International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labor-International Labor Organization presented the salient features of the electronic system and facilitated the hands-on training on its use. She encouraged the participants to appreciate the usefulness of the e-system and continue to update partners inside and outside the region a potpourri of news, accomplishments, milestones and cases.

The participants really enjoyed the hands on training facilitated by Ms. Mitra. They expressed their commitment to support the effective use of the e-system and regularly update the program implementers and stakeholders innthe region about child-labor related activities, initiatives and cases.

Let us continue to wage war against child labor and human trafficking. Let us ensure that laws and programs  protecting children and women are upheld. Let us forge a strong partnership and be more deliberate in our efforts to enhance our inter-agency coordination. The urgency of the situation is now. CHILD LABOR, SUGPUIN! NGAYON DIN!
