DAVAO REGION—the Department of Labor and Employment XI leads the commemoration of the 34th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week on July 17-23 2012. For this year, the NDPR Week adopts the theme Mainstreaming of Persons with Disabilities in Economic Development.
“DOLE fully supports the mainstreaming of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) towards economic development. Despite physical limitations, PWDs are now equipped with the right skills and tools enabling them to become potentially productive members of the labor force and contribute towards economic development.” DOLE XI Director Joffrey M. Suyao said.
The weeklong celebration offers socio-civic activities for PWDs. The line-up undertakings include the conduct of Special Olympics, Caravan, and Sayawitan- a Dance and Singing Contest. DOLE-XI will conduct Career Employment Coaching (CEC) Advocacy on July 18 during the Regional Employment and Livelihood Summit at SM City Ecoland Annex. Philjobnet Online and SRS Skills Offline Registration Facilities will also be mounted at the same venue on July 18-19. Likewise, a mini job fair exclusively for employable PWDs will be conducted on July 20 at the Sangguniang Panlungsod lobby.
“DOLE partners with the members of the Regional Council for Disability Affairs (RCDA), the local government, non-government organizations, and stakeholders for the materialization of the activities. Being the lead agency for this year’s NDPR week, DOLE is grateful for the full support and cooperation of partner agencies and organizations. ” RD Suyao added.
DOLE XI is an active member of the Regional Council for Disability Affairs (RCDA). Other RCDA partner agencies are Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Health (DOH), Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Technical Educational Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and MARINA.
