DOLE XI headed by its Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante attended to the recently concluded Davao State of the City Address (SOCA) on Tuesday, September 12,2017 together with other officials from the National Government Agencies.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s SOCA held at the city’s Sangguniang Panlungsod, gave updates on her 10-point agenda which covers Poverty Alleviation, Infrastructure Development, Solid Waste Management, Health, Education, Agriculture, Tourism, Transportation Planning and Traffic Management, Peace and Order, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Mitigation as her top priorities.
First of the many accomplishments reported during the SOCA were pertaining to employment and the provision of livelihood assistance through various programs and projects undertaken by Davao City in partnership with DOLE.
She lauded the Department for its support to the city’s Public Employment Services Office for the Job Matching wherein 26,000 vacancies have been solicited from June to December 2016. The Mayor also reported that on the same period last year 8,582 job seekers were referred for employment and 17.57% of which was placed for employment.
Mayor Duterte also highlighted Byaheng DO30 which is her three tiered initiative aimed at “contributing safety and sustainable development” in the city.
“We, in the Department are thankful for the unending support of the Local Government Unit of Davao especially Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio to our programs and projects. Because of that, we are able to successfully and efficiently deliver our services to our clients,” Director Agravante said.
For 2016 DOLE has granted a total of P3.4 million funds for livelihood to Davao City.
Some of the highlight projects conducted by DOLE XI in partnership with Davao City include the JobStart Philippines Program and the One Stop Service Center for OFWs.
