Davao City – Close to four hundred displaced employees of the Vitarich Dressing Plant in Tugbok this city received their wages after rendering minimal jobs in the barangay which include clean up of streets and canals and community parks beautification.
Affected by temporary closure of Vitarich, the profiled beneficiaries were immediately given intervention under the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD (TUlong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers or EEP (Emergency Employment Program). Under the program, the beneficiaries received a daily minimum wage of 396 pesos. A total of 2.1M pesos was extended to the recipient last November 15, 2019.
Gracing the payout, DOLE XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante in his message said, “DOLE will continue to extend our Emergency Employment Program (EEP) or TUPAD to affected and displaced constituents in Davao Region. For you receiving your wages today, please spend your money wisely. Unahin dapat ang needs nang bawat pamilya niyo.”
The intervention was facilitated by DOLE-Davao City Field Office under the headship of Chief Erlinda G. Mamitag in partnership with the office of Davao City Mayor’s Office and the Presidential Commission on Urban Poor headed by Commissioner Norman B. Baloro. (By Eduardo P.
