In line with the celebration of the 84th Anniversary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), DOLE Davao Region will be turning over 15 Nego-Karts and 100 motorized fishing boats to women and fisher folk livelihood associations in Matina Crossing and Toril here in Davao City on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
The turn-over ceremony for the livelihood tools and equipment for the benefit of 115 beneficiaries will be graced by DOLE Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” H. Bello III together with DOLE XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante.
First part of the turn-over ceremony will be at Matina Crossing Barangay Hall wherein the Matina Livelihood Association will be receiving Nego-Karts or Negosyo sa Kariton to be followed by the motorized fishing boats and fishing equipment turn-over at Davao City Fish Port in Toril. DOLE XI approved budget counterpart for the Nego-Kart provision is P330,000 while the approved budget for the motorized fishing boats and equipment is P5,000,000.
These livelihood grants are under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program which aims to provide livelihood assistance to the informal sector of the community whichinclude ambulant vendors, fisher folks, drivers, seasonal workers and the like.
Moreover, other than the livelihood turn-over ceremony, DOLE XI – Association of Concerned Employees and Staff will be conducting the 2nd Child Labor Free Philippines Run on Sunday, December 10, 2017. The activity, which is also a part of the Department’s Anniversary Celebration in the Region will be for the benefit of children at risk to become child laborers.
DOLE’s anniversary theme for this year is “Trabahong marangal para sa lahat, sabay-sabay nating iangat.”
