Pantukan, Compostela Valley Province – A water refilling equipment was turned over by the Department of Labor and Employment XI to a cooperative in this municipality. Of the total cost of P1,362,880.00, forty-five (45%) of which was a grant from the Department.
DOLE XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante in his words of wisdom said, “Now that you have this project, go full swing into marketing your product. Have a very clean water product, and be fast on delivery. These are the secrets of a good and gaining business.”
Nick Bryan Patalinghug, who represented the municipal mayor of Pantukan said, “Mayor Roberto Yugo and the Municipal Council extend their happiness and thanks to DOLE. The Department has lightened our burden in giving basic services to our constituents especially in servicing water. Potable water is one of the concerns to be addressed by the local government unit.”
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of Bongabong Agrarian Reform Cooperative (BARC) said, “The government is really true in its services to the people as manifested by this grant to our cooperative. We hope that other small associations and cooperatives would be inspired with this, and would visit DOLE for livelihood assistance.”
Bongabong Agrarian Reform Cooperative (BARC) is an agrarian reform cooperative serving one hundred six (106) members and three hundred sixty (360) plantation workers. As agrarian reform beneficiaries, their lands are rented by large-scale banana planters. The cooperative is into hauling services of bananas, a grocery store, money lending, and the recent DOLE grant of water refilling production facility and equipment. (By Eduardo P.
