Cash Assistance. ECC Regional Officer Franscheline Orvette D. Loayon, Atty. Tesiorna and PDEA XI Director Rivera hand over cash assistance to Mr. Alan Torlao, the father of deceased PDEA agent Kristine Mae.

The Employees’ Compensation Commission (ECC) handed cash assistance on 08 July 2019 at the office of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI to the bereaved families of four PDEA agents killed in an ambush in Lanao del Sur in 2018.

October last year, five agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were killed and two others were hurt when armed men ambushed them in Kapai town, Lanao del Sur while on their way from an anti-drug symposium. PDEA identified the slain agents as Kenneth Tabulo, Kristine Mae Torlao, Lores Joy Amar, Binzo Dipolla, and Diobel Pacinio.

Each family of the deceased agents received a check worth 15,000 pesos. While 10,000 pesos was given to the survivor. This assistance were in addition to the 30,000 pesos EC burial benefit and EC survivorship pension.

The checks were handed by PDEA XI Regional Director Antonio E. Rivera and ECC Regional Officer Franscheline Orvette D. Loayon. Ms. Loayon remarked that the grant of cash assistance is in consonance with the Commission’s active role in providing financial intervention for the families of government and private workers who would suffer untimely death due or injury arising from duties.

PDEA Director Rivera expressed appreciation and gratitude to ECC over the assistance extended for the bereaved families. “Though no amount can appease the grief caused by the loss of their loved ones, the assistance granted by the ECC greatly helps the families to cope with such loss.” he added.
