Davao City – Frequent communication is one way of strengthening the bond between an OFW and his/her family that are left behind.

On this premise comes OWWA’s Information Technology (IT) Training which is a literacy program that provides OFWs and their families training and access to technology to bridge the communication gap between the OFW and his/her family, and allow them to communicate with each other through the Internet.

Free of charge, the ten-day training is open to all active and inactive OWWA members and their families. Basic applications to learn include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Presentation, MS Office Publisher, Windows Movie Maker, and Adobe Photoshop.

To avail the free training, interested OFWs and their dependents may visit the OWWA XI Annex, Cam Building, Monteverde St., Davao City or call hotline numbers 0917-701-1135/ 0917-701-1126. Classes are held daily from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

On record from January 2019 to June 2020, OWWA XI listed 1,512 OFWs and dependents who availed the program. Of this figure, 1,022 are OFWs while 490 are dependents. (End)
