Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz today said that labor and management groups in Mindanao will be consulted for the formulation of the 2010-2016 labor and employment and human resource development (HRD) agendas during a multipartite consultation conference which will be held in Davao City on 26-27 October 2010.
Baldoz said the Davao consultation with social partners will be the second in a series of island-wide multipartite consultations that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has arranged in preparation to the conduct of the National Summit on Labor and Employment in Manila in December this year.
The first consultation involving labor, management, and other stakeholders in Luzon was held in Clark, Pampanga on 22-23 October 2010. The third consultation with the social partners will be held in Cebu on 27-28 October 2010.
“The island-wide consultations are intended to involve the social partners in the formulation of strategies, policies, programs, and activities for the 2010-2016 Philippine Labor and Employment Agenda which the DOLE will implement to support the national efforts in translating the development agenda of President Benigno S. Aquino III for the Filipino people,” Baldoz said, adding it (the agenda) will be incorporated with the Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan for the period 2011-2016.
The labor chief also said that the social partners are likewise being consulted for the formulation of the country’s HRD Agenda for the next six years.
“Both agendas will involve the social partners not only in their formulation but more significantly in their implementation so that efforts in generating employment opportunities and in ensuring that these opportunities will lead to reduction of poverty in the country will be maximized,” Baldoz said.
In the Davao consultation, the Philippine Banana Growers and Exporters Association will be represented along with representatives from other stakeholders from Regions 9, (Western Mindanao) 10 (Northern Mindanao), 11 (Southern Mindanao), 12 (Socsargen), CARAGA, and the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
Other participants from Davao Region include representatives from the Regional Development Council, Regional Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, DOLE-Regional Coordinating Committee, ICT-BPO Davao, schools associations and League of PESO Managers.
