The theme for this year’s Labor Day is “Mangagawang Pilipino, Kaagapay sa Pagbabago. SM City is one of the major sponsors of the celebration.  The activities lined up at SM City are the job fair and the formal launching of the ENTREPRENURSE back to back with the graduation ceremony of the 2nd batch of PROJECT NARS beneficiaries. The Entreprenurse and the Project NARS are DOLE’s intervention to the number of unemployed nurses in the country and in the region.  The unemployed registered nurses were organized into cooperatives  so that they can exercise their profession, gain experience and fulfill their commitment to service.  Five (5) Entreprenurse cooperative will receive P250,000 grant each from DOLE XI  during the Formal Launching to be graced by prominent personalities from the Manila including Dra. Josefina Tuazon, Dean, UPCN , Dr. Teresita Barcelo, President, PNA and Mr. Marco Sto. Tomas, PRC-Board of Nursing.  Project Entprenurse was conceptualized by Dirctor Jalilo Dela Torre.  The first Entreprenurse Clinic in the country will be inaugurated also on May1, 2010 at Barangay Buhangin, Davao City.

For Project NARS, 203 nurse beneficiaries will receive their certificate of completion.  Project NARS is a training cum employment program of DOLE in which the nurses receive their monthly stipend of P8,000 from the said agency.

To further boost the employment opportunities of nurses, DOLE XI has invited employers both local and overseas for the hiring of the nurses.  The  audio visual presentation of Project Entrepernurse will be shown before the start of the job fair.
