Out of the 25 MSMEs (Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises) screened from all over the region for the 2017 Productivity Olympics, nine (9) nominee-MSMEs  were awarded as Regional Winners by the RTWPB/DOLE-XI. In the Awarding Ceremony held last July 18, 2017 at the Seda Hotel Abreeza in Davao City, each of the nine regional winners received a Plaque of Recognition, a Certificate of Award, a cash prize, and were promised priority endorsements to the training programs of the NWPC and RTWPB.

The winners were evaluated based on the impact of their Productivity Improvement Projects (PIPs) to business excellence and resource management. The Awardees were presented by the Regional Screening Committee (RSC) of Davao Region–the Committee that evaluated and selected the nine (9) Regional Winners for 2017. The RSC is an elite team of experts composed of the seven RTWPB-XI Board Members and two External Productivity and Quality Experts from the private sector in Davao Region. The two private external evaluators were Mr. Ryan Mark Navarro, President of People’s Management of the Philippines (PMAP)-Davao Chapter and Mr. Glicerio Soliban, Representative of the PQASOM (Productivity and Quality Association of Southern Mindanao).

The awarding ceremony was hosted by the veteran Disc Jockey man, DJ Skip O’ Jack, and was highlighted by an entertainment of popular and classic music rendered live by the Filipina artist, international singer and composer, Ms. Joy Young. The event was attended by RTWPB-DOLE social partners from the government and private sectors. The President of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Ronald Go, also graced the occasion.

Each firm-representative of the nine lucky Regional Winners was requested to come on stage to share their insights as Awardee-MSMEs. The awardees automatically qualify to compete in the national race for a trophy, bigger cash prize and other privileges. The would-be national winners will be awarded by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) during the Productivity Month sometime in October 2017 in Manila.
