Davao City — Nurses, agriculture and construction workers, and call center agents top the list of the most number of job vacancies for the 2015 May 1 Job Fair here.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Davao region bared that a total of 34,096 job vacancies were solicited from the 100 local companies and 36 overseas agencies for the biggest job fair of the year.
Overseas employment posted 26,465 job vacancies. Of the figure, 2,473 vacancies for nurses; 2,250 for skilled/construction workers; 2,108 technicians; 1,951 engineers; and 1,765 caretakers.
Completing the top 10 list of overseas employment vacancies included frontline service workers, waiter/waitress, sales representatives, office clerks/assistants and therapists.
Most of the overseas employments are bound for the Middle East particularly United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Meanwhile, job vacancies for local employment posted a total of 7,631 available positions.
For local employment, some 1,258 agricultural workers are needed; 1,257 call center agents (both for voice and non-voice); 1,143 Tehcnical Support Staff; 689 Customer Frontline Service crew and 418 Homebased Online Teachers/workers.
Among the top 10 most number of vacancies also included production Service Workers, sales assistants/clerks, construction workers, candidate soldier course (Army), and supervisors and managers.
“We are exerting our best effort to gather a high turnout of available jobs that we can offer to our Job seekers come Labor Day Job Fair and were are very glad for the overwhelming support of our local employers and overseas placement agencies,” said DOLE Davao Region OIC assistant director lawyer Jason P. Balais.
“We expect to have at least 5,000 job seekers and hopefully we could have at least 15% of them to be hired on the spot,” he said.
Gaisano Mall of Davao will hold the Job Fair on May 1-2, 2015. While SM City Davao will hold the event on May 1.
Gaisano Mall of Tagum will also be hosting Job Fair on May 1 to cater applicants from the provinces of Davao del Norte, Compostela Valley and even those from Davao Oriental. Another Job Fair is conducted at Brgy. Darong, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
“The DOLE and our partners work to make it easy and fast for jobseekers to find jobs that fit their qualifications, interests, and career inclinations,” Balais said.
“This is the biggest and the grandest Job Fair we host for the year. And we urged newly graduated students to take advantage of this gathering of employers and job opportunities in one setting,” he added. (Sherwin B. Manual/DOLE11)
