Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III on Wednesday approved the grant of at least P30 million for the emergency employment of workers affected by the NCCC fire in Davao.

The funds will cover employment of the workers or their dependents for a period of 30 days.

More than 2,000 workers are estimated to benefit from the proposed emergency employment program.

The number includes employees of NCCC, SSI, employees of mall tenants, and other employees of the service providers.

On the part of ECC, the Commission is set to provide P30,000 worth of burial assistance to the 38 who perished during the fire, including grocery items for the wake which will be followed by the provision of survivorship pension to their families amounting to at least P3,700 per month.

In addition, DOLE, together with OSHC and ECC, will put together funds that will provide families of the victims the amount of P20,000 per family.### DOLE Davao Region
