With the successful implementation in Davao Region, JobStart Philippines has officially inked the memorandum of understanding (MoU) making Panabo City as their new JobStart site in the region.
The MoU was officially signed last March 22, 2018 at Waterfront Insular Hotel by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante together with the Bureau of Local Employment Labor Market Information Division Chief Ruth Rodriguez, Asian Development Bank Public Management Specialist Robert Boothe and Panabo Mayor James Gamao, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager Cherelle Espinosa and Panabo City Labor and Employment Chairperson Renante F. Bangoy.
Jobstart Philippines is a DOLE implemented project through its local PESO offices that aims to offers trainings and internship programs for fresh graduates in the region.
Those who will be selected will undergo ten days of life skills training, up to three months of JobStart-funded technical training and another three months of work experience with a “matched” employer/establishment. The interns in return will be receiving at least 75% of the minimum wage in the relevant city/municipality.
The project is a project jointly funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the government of Canada.
Since its implementation, JobStart in Davao Region for both its pilot areas Tagum City and Davao City already had a total of 849 graduates of Life Skills Training wherein 76.21% or 647 of them have already found total wage employment after the series of trainings.
