Davao del Sur – Sugarcane workers in Davao del Sur are recipients of a training on baking, cookery and beauty care. The Department of Labor and Employment XI through its Davao del Sur Field Office approved the proposal in response to the perennial problem of off-season in the sugar industry.

“I hope that after your trainings, you will apply the skills learned for the benefit of your families. The kits that we are giving to you are free. Take good care of it, use it to increase your income, especially these off-season days of the sugarcane industry.”, said DOLE XI Regional Director Raymundo G. Agravante.

Thankful to DOLE’s livelihood program is the Davao Mill District Development Council (DMDDC) Foundation, Inc. and the District Tripartite Council (DTC), all of Davao del Sur who are instrumental in the planning, submission of the proposal and implementation of the project for the displaced sugarcane workers.

The training which is conducted from September to November 2019 at the DASUCECO Compoiund, Guihing, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur is in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). Graduates will be given NC II certificates. DOLE XI through its Davao del Sur Field Office (DOLE DSFO) allocated P821,500.00 for training kits on baking, cookery and beauty care. (By Eduardo P.
