Davao City – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE XI), in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG XI), Social Security System (SSS Davao Branch), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation XI (PhilHealth XI) and Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG Fund Davao Branch) conducted a special orientation on the roles and responsibilities of the government agencies in the implementation of Republic Act 10361 or the Kasambahay Law. The activity dubbed as “Social Protection for the Kasambahay” was conducted on July 17, 2013 at the DOLE XI Activity Center.
DOLE XI officials and frontline personnel from the 5 Field Offices, including the DOLE XI Kasambahay Desk Officers, were supplied with all necessary information on how each of the implementing agencies exercises their mandate of ensuring that domestic workers in Davao Region receive full entitlement to the social protection benefits under the law.
DOLE XI Director Joffrey M. Suyao said that there is a need to equip DOLE personnel so that issues raised during the conduct of orientations and advocacy activities, especially on the mandatory provision of social protection benefits, are appropriately addressed. “It is important for all implementing agencies to have a uniform understanding and interpretation on the provisions of the law. As we expect compliance on the law from the public, it is imperative that we provide correct and appropriate information,” Suyao added.
As DOLE XI continues to conduct information dissemination activities all over Davao region, it also committed to support and participate in the registration drive of partner-agencies DILG, SSS, Pag-IBIG Fund, and PhilHealth. (JCFLORDELIS-AOV)
