Tagum City- In coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLEXI) the City Government of Tagum thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) hosted the 2017 Kalayaan Job and Business Fairs dubbed as Trabaho, Negosyo and Kabuhayan (TNK) on June 12, 2017 at the Atrium, New City Hall, Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
The city hall (up to 5th floor) areas were all utilized for the simultaneously done activities like trade fair, DTI Seminar on Entrepreneurship and Franchising, Grow Micro Program Seminar, BIR Seminar, DOLE Integrated Livelihood Seminar and Workers Registration Processes, livelihood skills training-demo on Tocino Making, Ballon Twisting/Designing, Perfume Making, Liniment Oil Making and Dishwashing Liquid Making and the services of DFA, NBI, SSS, TESDA, PRC, PHlLHEALTH, PSA, PNTC, OWWA, JOBSTART including the bloodletting activity of the Tagum City Health Office were done in one roof.
One of the highlights of the said event is the awarding of the ceremonial check from DOLEXI worth P 4,560,000 to be downloaded to the Local Government of Tagum intended for the livelihood projects of the 14 various group recipients of BUB 2016 project. This was received by the Honorable City Mayor Allan L. Rellon together with his Vice Mayor Geterito T. Gementiza, Committee on Labor Chairperson, Councilor Jan Demetri S. Sator and Tagum City PESO Manager Ms. Rogeneth P. Llanos.
In his message, Mayor Rellon extended his grateful appreciation to the Department of Labor and Employment XI for the continued support and assistance not only in terms of employment generation and facilitation but also livelihood opportunities thereby creating entrepreneurial activities at the grassroots level for his constituency “the tagumenyos”.
In the afternoon, right after the awarding and turn-over of various livelihood skills demo produced products, in her message on behalf of RD Raymundo G. Agravante, DOLE Assistant Regional Director Evelyn R. Ramos gave thanks to local government unit of Tagum for the staging and hosting of 2017 Trabaho, Negosyo and Kabuhayan (TNK) together with support of Provincial Government of Davao del Norte, Davao del Norte PESO League, different local & national agencies and to the employers present.
The event were participated by 31 local and 9 overseas employers of which their total vacancies of 11,628 were shopped by 973 total registered applicants. It recorded 169 total hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) and 478 total near hired applicants.
Jobseekers especially those who need to reproduce their application credentials are overwhelmingly happy and thankful because they need not to go outside the activity hall because DOLE Davao del Norte has provided free photocopying services inside the job fair area.
The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Livelihood Manpower and Development Division sponsored the livelihood skills demo-training.
This year’s theme is “Kalayaan 2017: Pagbabago Sama-Samang Balikatin.”
Moreover, the annual Davao City Kalayaan Job Fair was cancelled for safety purposes through memorandum signed by DOLE XI Director Raymundo Agravante following the advice of the central office in line with the implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao. This is also in support to the guidelines set by Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio.
