Year 2010 strengthened the Industry Tripartite Councils of Banana Industry and Information Communication Technology – Business Process Outsourcing through the symbol of the Voluntary Code of Good Practices on Decent Work+ Agenda. However it never ended there, for this year centers the Academe in organizing their industry specific tripartite council known as the Academic Industry Tripartite Council in advancing further industrial peace thru social dialogue and tripartism.
Inspired under the framework of Decent Work, the Academic Industry inks the Voluntary Code of Good Practices on Decent Work+ Common Agenda that sums up good practices and agreements. The said Voluntary Code as it affirms to the minimum requirements of national statutes and regulatory issuances encompasses practices beyond ethical legal and public expectations aimed at making improvements on social, environmental, labor rights and good governance.
The main proponent for the formation of the Academic Industry Tripartite Council (AITC) is Ms. Angelica L. Torres of Davao Doctors College, one of the Regional TIPC Sectoral Representatives now elected as the Vice-Chair of AITC (Management Sector).She was backed-up by Ms. Virginia T. Camus – Vice-Chair Labor Sector of RTIPC and the Asian Association of School Human Resource Management and Development Practitioners, Inc.(AASHPI) Southern Mindanao Chapter. As key leaders of the RTIPC, both Ms. Torres and Ms. Camus were excited in the implementation of this code as it answers to the present call of times for voluntary compliance and self-regulation. This kind of tandem towards achieving a common goal in the academic industry exemplifies social partnership between labor and management.

The Voluntary Code was formally presented to Honorable Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz through the launching of “Social Partnership for Effective Labor Governance” held on 21 September, 2011 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City. The Academic Industry Tripartite Council (AITC) and this code brings out the advocacy as crucial levers of society to ensure the development of effective relationships among the different sectors for enhancement not just labor management relations, employment conditions and job creation yet bridging curriculum and industry mismatch, ensuring quality education and talent development, and productivity
The Voluntary Code of Good Practices on Decent Work+ Common Agenda shall aim further as a complimentary mechanism for government mandatory regulation in predicting labor management relations and employment conditions, strengthening laws and regulations and adoption of innovative or current trends when development is soaring fast over existing laws.
