
Montevista, Davao de Oro – Department of Labor and Employment Davao Region recently awarded ₱959,200.00 check for livelihood of banana plantation workers’ union.
Tingog sa Yanong Trabanhante Unyon (TYATRU) that is affiliated with Davao de Oro’s Congress of Independent Organization (CIO) received the livelihood assistance through Mobasco Multi-Purpose Cooperative.
Since TYATRU labor union is not yet an accredited co-partner (ACP) of DOLE Davao Region, the check was turned over to Mobasco Multi-Purpose Cooperative being a conduit partner.
DOLE Davao de Oro Chief Neil Allan Baban said, “TYATRU will be implementing its poultry production project that aims to address the inadequate supply of dressed chicken supply in Davao de Oro.”
“The project will produce more or less 6,500 dressed chickens within 30 days,” he added.
He also challenged TYATRU officers and members to manage well the livelihood awarded to them.
DOLE Davao Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo said, “the department’s livelihood assistance will not only benefit the union member beneficiaries but the entire community of Davao de Oro.”
TYATRU President Jomhar Nueva expressed their appreciation to DOLE 11 for granting its request and awarding them the livelihood project.
“Amoang ampingan kining gihatag sa amoang livelihood sa DOLE. Dako kinig tabang aron mulambo ang pamilya sa matag miyembro sa unyon,” he added.
